How to get a chevy in a ford?
ok so I know some of you guys won't like this but i'm getting a built 350 so cheap that I gotta ask... is there some where that sells motor mounts to put a chevy 350 into my 1982 f-150?(possibly in canada) I currently have a 302 and a C6 tranny and want to switch to a 350 with a 700R4. any info on a install would be great.

You're kidding, right?
:-X13 |
Now why would you want to do a thing like that???
|
You will probably have to fab everything from scratch yourself.
|
Sell the 350 and buy a 351w Ford and your ready for eng replacement with no headaches,...well a few.
|
what!!! :-X09
:-bansign well to each there own i guess. Good luck |
Okok I know. I'm a ford guy too but have no money. My buddy has a ton of chevy performance stuff so I thought I'd see if there would be a possibility of a chevy in my f150. Obviously not trying to make too much power ... Being a chevy motor and all.. Lol

Considering that everything would need to be fabricated, you would be money ahead with a ford engine.
Your engine mounts, exhaust, transmission, trans mounts, driveshaft, and universal joint to match the chevy trans to the ford driveshaft would all need modifications. Your wiring would also need to be redone along with the fuel lines. The labor, material costs, and time researching would be better used staying with a ford engine. |
Don't do it....
|
You may also have issues mating the radiator to the motor. I am sure it could all be done depending on the time you have available.
|
I think I just threw up a little in my mouth...
It can be done, for lots of money and time, not worth it at all. |
sell it all and buy a honda...
|
Its actually really easy to do and when JC whitney was around the first 20 pages of the catalog were adaptor mounts and transdaptors.
google up the parts and watch this: Why Install a Chevy Engine in a Ford?: Pt. 1: How to Install a Chevy 350 in a Ford Thunderbird | eHow.com (we used to put chevies in jeeps to the jeep drivetrain all the time) |
