I have a 98 Expy with the 5.4, I am getting ready to haul a trailer from Indiana to Georgia, it is a flat bed trailer so it will not be very heavy at all, but the problem is I can not turn off my overdrive on the transmission selector. When you push the button it does nothing, not lights or change in rpm. All the fuses are good, does anybody have any idea on which way to start looking? I have looked under the dash and dont see any wires unpluged or loose. I have the 4R70W transmission. Any help would be great.
I am pretty sure it is. When on the interstate the Roma stay in the 2000 range at 70 to 75 mph. That is the only thing I have to base it on. Is there anyway to check it?
If you want to verify it, access the switch wires and make/break the connection while driving to see if the OD kicks in and out. Make sure you have the switch wires and not the OD OFF bulb wires.
Thanks alloro. Bought a new swith and it is working fine. I am going to have to buy the little cap for the end too, apparently the switch has to be snug down in there to work. They want 15 bucks for that stupid little ring on the end. Anyways thanks again.
