Welcome to FTE, 59 was the first year of Ford Factory 4X4 can you post some pictures? We would love to see them.
Also I know a few others on here can probably tell a lot more about your truck if you can post the vin number as well.
what specific things are you trying to find out? I'm not too familiar with these years but I'm sure others who are will be along.
Welcome to the forum! It sounds like a very cool truck, and having one that's been part of the family is awesome. On your truck, do you have any plates or badges that reference Marmon-Herrington?
thanks guys... I will try to post pictures tomorrow of my truck as for the vin ill go pull it get it off the truck now. Well im trying to find info about the 4x4 because trying to find parts for it is almost impossible because i know nothing about it. but any information would be helpful really I'm learning as i go with this truck really
When did M-H stop doing conversions? Oh! Welcome to the best ford truck forum in the world. Waiting on pic's. I Luv old 4X4's. Have given a lot of thought to converting the 62 Uni.
Marmon-Herrington never stopped doing conversions, but when Ford took the half ton and 3/4 ton business in-house in 1959 M-H was forced to focus on the big trucks. They have survived to this day doing that work. If Lazarus4x4's truck is not a factory model, it could have been a Napco conversion. There have been old threads where Number Dummy and others have had "lively" conversations over how you can tell a factory truck from a converted truck. I had some of those threads archived on the old computer that gave up a few weeks ago. Hopefully some of our 57 to 60 specialists will drop in soon. Stu
What parts are you having a hard time finding? For most body parts you have to search out good used parts To verify that the truck was a "factory built" 4x4, look at he axle code on the data plate on the glovebox door and post it here as that is about the best way to pin that down.
Here's one of the old thread's on 59 Ford's and whether they are a "factory or not 4x4". I think this might have been one of the "lively" threads you were thinking of Stu. I know there were a couple threads running in the same time frame, but the other one's not jumping out at me. Sometimes the thread titles can be mis-leading or a thread was shall we say.... bumped off course and title / subject are disconnected.
These are a few pictures of my truck.. the bed is off right now so i could do work to the rear end and brakes and rewire it from the cab back because it was pretty thrashed i will put up some pictures of the bed interior soon
