Can you remove the tps sensors from the stock wheels? I know I can buy new ones I just thought if I could use the old ones I would save some cash.
Thanks!
Ohhhh. I believe you can. The service manual doesn't go into the procedure for the F-150, but it does for the Expedition. If they are the same type sensor, then yes (depending on the type of wheel/tire you're upgrading to). The TPM looks to be an extension of the valve stem and their are different P/Ns for depending on the size of the rim.

Okay the TPM. I see you have an Expedition. Does it say in the manual you have how to do it? I went from a stock 17" alloy wheel to a aftermarket 17" wheel. So I Think they will fit but I don't want to ruin them trying to get them off. Thanks for the help!
I am going a little further out there than I would like (can't remember where I saw them), but there is an aftermarket TPM sensor that mounts on the wheel (inside the tire obviously.
I believe there are some that mount with a steel strip. The ones in the manual just look like...rather than try to describe why don't I just post a pic, eh?
CAUTION: Ford recommends using a round head air chuck on tire pressure sensors; it is not recommended to use air chucks with long shanks. Doing so can cause tire pressure sensor valve stem damage and loss of tire pressure.
Removal
NOTE: The vehicle is equipped with a light blue-colored tire pressure sensor. When installing new components, use only this tire pressure sensor.
The tire pressure monitoring system (TPM's) will not operate correctly if black-colored tire pressure sensors are installed.
Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
CAUTION: Do not remove the valve stem core to relieve the tire pressure. CAUTION: If the valve stem core has been removed from the valve stem, reinstall the original valve stem core. If the original valve stem core is damaged, a nickel-plated core must be installed. Failure to use a nickel-plated core will result in corrosion and the possible loss of tire pressure. NOTE: Release the tire pressure by removing the sensor valve stem nut. With the valve stem at the 6 o'clock position, remove the sensor valve stem nut and push the sensor by hand into the tire (with the cap on).
Using a suitable tire machine, separate both beads of the tire from the wheel.
CAUTION: Care should be taken not to damage the tire pressure sensor while separating the outside bead of tire from the wheel. Place the wheel and tire on the turntable of the tire machine, index-mark the valve stem and wheel weight positions, lubricate the bead of the tire and dismount the outside bead of the tire from the wheel.
Remove the tire pressure sensor from the tire.
Remove and discard the grommet from the tire pressure sensor.
The F-150 and Expedition are different, the F-150 uses a band mounted sensor around the rim, while you can remove the sensor from the band, the factory bands are a one time use deal; Though when the tire shop destroyed one of mine they got a new band from Ford that was essentially a giant hose clamp, which was nice because it could be used on various sizes of rims, and be reused.
It's similar to this, except blue and mounted to a cradle that attaches to the band.

This is just like the one on my rims. I will call the Ford dealer in the morning! A big Thanks to everyone!
