Noob Question: Water Pump differences

Is there a real difference between a 55$ water pump vs motorcraft or delphi water pump that is near to the $200 range? Basically should I skip the cheaps and put OEM stuff in?

I am a firm believer that OE stuff is best unless there is a proven track record of Brand-X doing the same as or better than OE items. However, I'm tight on money this week and my truck needs a new water pump, sadly. Even after I just dumped a new rad, rad hoses in it.

That's just it. No one seems to know the difference. They don't carry them in the store and takes 7 to 9 days for them to arrive on order.

Although I did find one at napa. They could not tell me the difference between them, however, they did have remans in stock.

More than likely, the difference is that the OEM part is made in USA, (Maybe) and the less expensive part is made offshore (China). I have never had a problem with the aftermarket pumps, they are usually new.
