Hot Fuel Selector Switch - Really
Hot Fuel Selector Switch - Really
I'm resurrecting my '91, 4.9L with dual tanks.
Like so many others, dealing with these trucks after sitting for a handful of years, the ground plane needed lots of attention.
I an now to the point, that there is battery voltage past the inertia switch and to the fuel selector switch.
No, neither pump has uttered a spirt or a sound yet.
While testing voltage at the fuel selector switch, my hand let me know something was getting tooo warm. The wiring and switch body were just too darn warm. Somethings sucking power.
And yes, my battery is dropping voltage too quickly while testing.
The specifics: when set for the front tank, the wire to the tank is showing less than 9 volts, and the switch is getting hot.
At the same time, when the switch is toggled to the rear tank, the voltage is near battery level, and normal temperature.
I figure I'm pulling bed/tanks anyway, (I know there was a bad check valve when parked), but thought I'd ask for a heads up, as I make my way down the frame rail.
Thanx for any thoughts.
