4.6L Misfiring
I have a 1997 F250 with a 4.6l V8 and 235,000 miles. I have constant problems with misfiring, especialy when weather is wet. I have changed the sparkplugs at least 6 times in the last 3-4 years, plug wires 3 times and the ignition coils once. Each of these changes work OK for 6 months to a year and then it starts to run rough all over again. Engine diagnosis shows misfiring in a particular cylinder but it seems as though the problem is further upstream.
Anybody have similar problems?

are there any codes? my 5.4 was missing with zero codes for forty miles. i have a 01 so the ignition setup a little different, but anyway i had to pull all my coils check with multimeter, and all were good. pulled the plugs and low and behold the part the computer doesn't sense was bad. two plugs were shot. previous owner only changed a couple of the easy to get to plugs. ran great no missing. none of this maybe helpful, but i would definitely start checking everything ignition related. if you have a repair manual for your vehicle there are a lot of troubleshooting and tests to perform to eliminate possible weak ignition components.
