Bed Rails

Does anyone have bed rails with anchor points that are actually useful and that you like? I'm trying to decide whether to do just anchor points or a bed rail with anchor points.

I picked up a set of these Erickson 18 in. Aluminum O-track with 2 Clips - 3013345 | Tractor Supply Company from Farm & Tractor. Mounted mine on the inner rail just behind my tool box. So far I have used them to tie down my motorcycles and they work well.

I would just do the tie downs like we talked about in the other thread. One think I would like to do is add lower tie down points from a newer truck, but I'm not sure how well that would work.

I saw some today that made me stop and think, but they are WAY more expensive than tie downs. So....I'll probably go back to the tie down search. Thanks TG...

Im not 100% sure if it will work as I dont have my truck sitting here to look at and all BUT:

On an older 90s chevy I saw the person had taken large eye bolts and bolted them sideways thru the bed rail support area-the stake pocket holes on his bed were formed and stuck out as part of the inner bed wall.

I did something similar on an older truck-drilled a hole thru the bed and did eye bolts. Putting them as close to the bed wall as possible meant they never got in the way.

I have the diamond plate bed rails and like them, they do what they are supposed to do. I also installed 6 tie downs on the inside of the bed, 1 in each corner and the middle. Sounds about the same as the previous poster, got mine from the junkyard though. They are in close enough to the sides to be out of the way.

I have the black composite ones made by EGR from JCW. They also have another type that is very similar, but I forgot who makes them.

I had the aluminum diamond plate ones and I'll never do that again. They ruined the paint on the bedsides, so much for protecting them. I also don't care at all for the look of diamond plate anymore either.

Probably anything that sits on the rails will eventually cause some wear on the paint. The only thing that wouldn't cause that is line-x or the equivalent.
The rails match the tool box on mine.

I realize that. The aluminum ones pinched the rails and chewed up alot of the paint. I have had my composite ones off before and they did not damage anything since I repaired it all.

The metal ones are more for protecting from dents and gouges I'd think. Even a topper sitting on that weather strip stuff rubs the paint off.
