ditchin' the split.

What exactly makes the split shot system work? I know the injectors have different plungers than the singles but how is the computer doing it? is it in the idm or the ecm? or both? I want to convert to singles for my cali emissions 97 f250. tired of seeing the higher prices for just a rebuild.

It's the injectors. There is a little bit of a change in the tuning, but it's just timing differences and stuff. IDM doesn't make a difference. It's the injector and the PCM making it run right. So if you put singles in your SD then it would run on split shot tuning, just not all that great b/c timing and everything would be off. Put a chip in for singles and it will kick a$$. Are you thinking of getting rid of your SD??? Or are you keeping it and getting another truck?

Talk to Jim at Rosewood Diesel Shop, get a set of Stage I single shots and a good chip burned for them and all will be solved!

You'll be much happier with the injectors and the chip will take care of the programming for you.

You can get a chip from DP Tuner, or TW, or PHP that is tuned for Stage I's. I'm not sure if Jim still sells PHP chips, but I got mine from him, as did William. I love my chip, and my Stage I's.

Stock will run like normal. You won't see any more smoke than stock unless you are on the higher level tunes.

PHP chips are good about not having a lot of smoke unless you are at wide open throttle.

i have a 96 ps just put sd injecters from a stock sd, they are 130 i think yous will be the same, most stage 1 i have seen are 150cc, ia see alot more smoke now than i did but my injecters was 98cc stock. i would say you would wanna go 2 i stageII that is what i was told 2 go 2 from my sd injecters. you will need a custom chip i would go with a six pisiton chip, and custom burns, get a hold of beans

Those are early SD injectors, late SD are a little bigger. And Stage 1's are almost always 160cc single shot, what you are running should be split shot and I'm surprised your truck will run them unless you have a chip.

If they are from a 2000 MY they should be AD codes, 140cc. Only the early 99 SD got the 130cc ish AB codes.
