When I sold Optima,s they told me that it had tiny veins filled with acid (wet) wrapped around coils or cylinders of lead stuff. than the case was filled with a (wet) Gel. Nothing dry about them. The main killer of them is over charging as that breaks the veins and lets the (wet) acid out. At the time I was selling for them they would not replace them if they failed from a bad alternator or had been charged with a charger or had been jump charged. As any of this could damage them. They are great when they are good but very temperamental with any charging problems. I seen one that had fell into the fan on a PSD and cut one coil almost off. with engine off the 4 door truck with camper and hunting gear for 4 men he winched it up hill 800 feet than started the engine. He was the dealer from Montana that got me selling them locally here in Alaska. That's some of my experience with them for what it's worth.

It must suck for a wet cell to go dry. I suggest foreplay.
