I am impressed with the Sync system. No just the radio. but the entire system. You get AM, FM, FM HD, Satellite, a 10gb Jukebox, plus the ability to plug in Ipod or USB flash drives. You should never run out of Music. Ad to that the hands free phone, navigation, 911 emergency, and back up camera. It's a no brainer for an option. It was the one option I questioned about buying. I'm impressed and happy that I got it.
Audio system is second to none. Have all of the bells and whistles and it was well worth it! Also the Surius has weather maps, forecasts and plug and play Ipod, cd's and I think you can play DVD's. Haven't tried the DVD's yet. The dash has a ton of info and also when you hook up trailers you can save the setting and name the trailer and pick that trailer from the list and your settings are saved for that trailer. Cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm glad you like the factory sound system. I did not, replaced all the tweeters, mid range speakers, and the sub with my own stuff.
Everything else I agree with. SYNC is very nice, truck is amazing. I have 6 trailers stored in the system. I also uploaded a couple of .jpg images for the home screen. It's in the SYNC manual on how to do it, burn images to a disc, insert disc, from home screen touch the "Ford" emblem and you will be able to navigate to your pics and save them.
Thanks srkr for starting this thread. I haven't heard from anyone on the stereo system on the new trucks and am glad to hear they're somewhat decent. I have been reading through the manual on the head units and they look pretty impressive. Will definitely be ordering that.
I actually spoke to a buddy that has a similar (if not the same) unit in his F-150. He said there's a second USB port under the dash (by the antenna's?) that you can plug an external drive too (think 500gb!). Plug it in and store it under the dash out of the way but accessible. Love the idea of that too as I have about a 100gb of music on my home pc.
Ruschejj- How does the audio sound with the replaced components? Did you upgrade the amp, is that even possible on the new systems?
Now if only they'd straighten out the rear dvd issue so I can order....

I had the rear dvd system added after I picked up my truck (Car Concepts in SLC). They gave me a great deal and the system is fantastic. Individual players in each head rest, can play the same movie on both or different. Also comes with about 30-40 games and controller for the kids. The headrests are ordered specific for the 2011 so they are a perfect match for my Adobe interior. They also hooked it up to one of my Aux switches so I can play the sound over the stereo system or they can use the wireless headsets. Last road trip....didn't hear a peep from the kids.

The sound system is the only thing I don't like about the truck...WEAK! Referring just to sound quality, not the features.
Also does anyone know if adding a rear seat entertainment system will allow me to use my factory in dash controller or will it only work as a separate item? When i bought my truck rear seat entertainment was not an option however it is now - I went to look at the new systems and they appear identical - however they have the option on the screen for the rear seat entertainment - can anyone tell me if I can enable this feature????

Good to know. I'll talk to the dealer about it, see what they can do.
I have 4 kids ranging from 13 to 9mos so any sort of peace and quiet I can get, I'll take!
I guess I should say second to none of any that I own. I think the factory radio is still pretty darn good but upgrades would only be better. How did the new speakers sound? I found while playing cd's the sound is the best, radio is second and Surius/Ipod is third in the quality of the sound.
New speakers make a HUGE difference. I took the factory sub out, just unplugged it, nothing fancy. It has its own amp so it was removed as well.
I added a 250W mono amp that powers two 10" subwoofers. I built enclosures to fit behind the rear seats (you have to remove the rear seats from the cab to do any of this, I also had to remove a large section of wall carpet along the rear wall of the cab). It's major surgery but if you heard the sounds like I do it's worth it.
