I've got a 9" LS and I broke the " hat " ( side of diff that covers the clutch pack ) . Does any one know where I can get one of these at ?
Also , I'am looking for opinions on the strength of a mini spool . I do allot of heavy offroading and I'am wondering just how strong these are . I've just got a worn out 351m and 33" tires but I've already munched two rears in it and don't feel like making it three .
You should probably look into an 8.8" - they're JUST as strong as the 9" (if not stronger), a LOT easier to find, cheaper, cheaper to rebuild, and you pretty much have your pick of track width, brake style (if you don't mind 16" rims), and suspension type. For a bolt-in, stay with '80-96 F-150/Bronco axles, but the later ones have a flange and you'll have to swap your yoke onto it.
If you don't want to risk trashing your axle again, stay away from a mini-anything. They're known to break under even moderate wheeling.
