We spent most of yesterday watching the 9-11 documentaries on the History channel. Very sad.

I have a friend thats in NY that lives across the channel from the WTC site. They have been saying that theres alot going on that its getting bad there. Theres alot of tension with that mosque building and everything. She did say that if the mosque goes up that she will be leaving.

On a side note not to get off topic but did anyone else hear anymore about those 3 others proposing burning the quroan in three different central US states? Just wondering cause the media didnt say anything other than that.

as far as remembering I think most dont want to because the media runs so much into the ground talking days about one thing that people try to forget.

personally I didnt do much saturday.

A friend in Las Vegas woke me up with a call that morning. "They bombed the World Trade Center! World War III has started". I told him it was probably a terrorist bombing.....thinking back to the 1990s attempt.

I got up and turned on the TV to see the first tower was burning. A few minutes later, watched in shock as an airplane hit the second tower. Glued watching what was going on.....and then the towers "pancaked". The rest of the day, my husband and I spent watching various news reports about this, the Pentagon and Flight 93......

I admin a PC games website and forums. Knowing a few members lived in the NYC area, I checked the boards for any news. They were quiet for a very long time. Later that night, one NYC member posted he got word of a missing cousin who was with the port authority. Another posted his father was missing (he was staying at the Marriot Hotel on a business trip. (The Marriot Hotel stood at the foot and immediately between the Twin Towers. It was extensively damaged when they both fell on it). Finally another posted his brother was supposed to chaparone a group of elementary school kids visit for a tour to the top of one of the Towers that morning.

Two days later, the first member reported his cousin died in one of the towers.

The second's family got a phone call from his father saying he was ok. He was at an early morning business conference elsewhere when the towers were hit.

The third poster found out the scheduled school tour was called off a few hours before the first strike. So his brother was ok.

That site has quite a few European players who came in posting their shock and condolences the American players as the hours and days went on.

I still think 9/11 was an inside job to get the US into a war with the Middle East.

I think politicians have profited from war through all the years that we've engaged in such.

All the evidence points to Israel. The Jews pretty much own the US government. Now America is set to go to war with Iran, and take out the last of Israel's enemies. If you think gas prices are high now, wait till the Jews control the Middle East.

Well, websthes....I'll grant you this. You at least had the courtesy to wait until 9/12 before taking a fresh, steaming dump on this thread........

Thanks.

This thread was meant as a solemn remembrance to that day.......with a little commentary of how things have changed since......not finger pointing and conjecture. Lets keep it here, keep it civil, and out of the club.

I'm sorry that I missed this thread, on Saturday.
My youngest son and I worked in the yard, most of the day.

The Stars and Stripes were flying HIGH at the 00BOR home!

My house is directly under the southern flight path leading to Andrew Air Force Base (now known as Joint Base Andrews).

We had several aircraft fly overhead, and Brad got one of our flags and waved it high and with lots of spirit, trying to get their attention.
One aircraft did tip his wings and that made my son's day!!!
(Made my day, too!)

I will NEVER forget 9/11/2001.
I was recovering from neck surgery, and had the TV on.
I was walking out of the kitchen, and saw that the first tower had been hit by an airplane.
The first thing that entered my mind was that there was some mechanical malfunction.
(Does anyone remember reading about the B-25 Mitchell that flew into the Empire State Building, during WWII??)
That was my first thought.
The sight of those people that jumped from the WTC Bldg. will forever be etched into my memory.

And the second plane that flew into the other WTC Bldg.
I couldn't believe my eyes!!!
THIS was happening in the United States! How DARE anyone do this!?!?!?!?

Then, the plane flew into the Pentagon.
A good friend and neighbor works at the Pentagon.
He had gone to a meeting in DC, otherwise he would have perished in that crash.

My wife's office building (at that time) was 3 blocks from the White House.
Our company went into a 'lockdown' mode and was sheltering in place, until further notice. (She didn't come home until almost midnight, that night!)

Sorry for the rambling post.

As I have typed this, I've realized that there must be some dust in this room, because my eyes are watering.

May those people that lost their lives and their families be forever remembered and blessed.

God Bless The United States of America.
And God Bless our Men and Women who stand in harm's way, to keep us FREE!!!!!!!!

Great post, Keith. I couldn't watch any of the documentaries on Saturday....I still remember it like it was yesterday, and regarding the people jumping out of the building to escape the firestorm.....yes. I'm with you on that.

On a personal note, I was working that day. Instead of going in at 2pm and coming home at 1030pm.....It was more like 11am to 1am.........

The absence of air traffic was eerie.......My division is right outside Charlotte-Douglas Airport.......Lots of NGs around, and we also ended up having to keep an extra dozen or so officers out of the airport for a coupla weeks.......

I just wanted payback. That's what I remember too. Payback.

Gotta jump back in here. . . .

It just dawned on me -

A few days before 9/11, two (young) boys that live across the street from us, signed up with the USMC.
Each one wanted to get some military time and VA benefits, and go to college, especially since we weren't at war.

Oh, how their lives and expectations changed!!!

The oldest brother completed Basic, and went to Okinawa where he met a beautiful young lady and got married two years later.

The youngest brother became a crewmember on a CH-47 Chinook, and went straight to Iraq.
This young lad said that every time that chopper took off, he felt like 'he was making a difference in something'.
He served two tours and came home.
He had been home 30 days, and re-upped.
He went back for a 3rd tour, and is now in Afghanistan.

The military gave him what he'd never had. Discipline. Structure. A sense of accomplishment. A yearning to be with his fellow Marines.
This young man is now 29 years old, and has decided to make the Marine Corps his career.

If you happen to be reading this. . . . Bless you Mike. We're all proud of you.
