You will love that truck. I have s/c with long bed. 4000 miles. getting around 18 in town. Pulling my 10000 lbs towbox accross texas at 70mph avg. 11mpg.
Man I wish I were seeing the kind of numbers guys on here are getting. I'm averaging 12.5-14MPG city. This is stop and go traffic, literally no hi-way driving, and around my town, lots of hills. Hi-way empty I'm getting 16-18mpg but I have seen short jaunts in the less mountainous regions up to 22mpg. I was real happy with that little trip. Towing 7000lbs through the mountains I averaged 13 mph. I must admit I really could give a rats azz for mileage cause I love the power this thing has. It makes driving and towing effortless. When I want to pass, I pass.
I have been a Chevy and a GMC man for many years but when I went for my replacement DuraMax there was none to be found - I drove the FORD and bought it - I love this thing it is incredible - I am seeing on average of about 17 average with the new flash - 4 door, short bed, 4x4, 20" tires.
With 2100 miles on my truck and about 1200 of it with some kind of trailer hooked up, I am seeing 12.6 mpg average. Running empty on a trip from SLC to Jackson I got 23 mpg with a steady 70 mph.
I pull a large GN horse trailer (often with 4 horses inside), a skidloader, a mni hoe, and a dump trailer. Most of the equipment is short hauls through city driving. They just kill my mileage.
The hills and traffic around me are killing my MPG, but that would be the same with any vehicle I drive. I'm getting about the same as I did with my 7.3, 16ish. Just as I pull out from work there is a traffic light I have to wait for to get over a bridge, I can watch the MPG fall as I sit there. On a bad day that light takes 25-30 minutes.
My wife's car was getting 18-19 around town when we lived near the coast, we moved here and it dropped to 12-14.
I am getting 16 around town and 22.5 on the highway. Haven't been flashed yet. This truck beats my 92' GMC dually all to hell. Considered a new GM but what I would like to know is "who beat up the new GM's with an ugly stick!" Those trucks look awful.
