Finally, after installing a new gas tank, fuel lines, fuel filter, and rebuilt carburetor, my little 223 is running great again. It felt great taking her out for a ride last evening. Hopefully, my fuel woes will be a thing of the past...or at least for a long while!
That's great news! I think you willbe happy with the new clean fuel system. That's one of those kinds of "thankless" things that you only get the bad results if you don't do it.
Absolutley Julie. Now that she is behaving the way I was hoping, my plan is to drive her to the Moonshine Festival in Dawsonville, Ga in late Oct. I'm slowly building-up my spare parts travel box for the trip. Of course with the 32 rear, I am sure that I will be taxing the patience of some on the interstate.
With a 6 cylinder and a 3.02 rear you should be almost perfect - unless you have really small back tires. With 235/75R15, you should be going about 70 mph at 2500 rpm! Good speed!
Julie, my fat finger must have it the icon..the rear is a 32. Probably will do 65 tops.

So far, good. I am concerned about the restriction of air, however. I might switch to the open element type.
I recently acquired another original/stock oil bath air cleaner. Not sure if I should put both of them on or leave the existing chrome ones. I'll probably leave the chrome ones on for right now.
Ok..this is weird. I spell it out: the rear is three nine two.
That is weird!
OK 3.92...yep your gonna be poking along. With same size tires (235/75R15s) you'll be doing about 65 at 3000 rpm and 75 at 3500! (downhill - wind at your back) unless you have an overdrive transmission.
