I have an 82 Bronco with the original 4 speed, now powered by a 93 model 351w. I took it on a long trip the other day and before I took off I adjusted the cluth as it was getting sloppy and hard to get in and out of 1st and reverse. (this isnt the first time ive adjusted the clutch on this truck). After I was done and test drove her I got this ear shattering screech everytime the clutch is in a certain position. It is like a belt squeel times 10. It does it between each gear when I shift while the clutch is down, and depending on how far down the petal is, does it in neutral. I cant adjust it back out now, it wont stop no matter what. Anyone else have similar experience? is it time for a new clutch? and from the looks of things the t-case drive shafts and trans have to come out to get to it...any tips/tricks/or other helpful advice? Thanks!
The swap was done about 9 years ago and all the guy could tell me is that is was a 11" clutch. Im not sure what all the shop did when they put the 351 in. It has run fine for me for about 10,000 miles.
well i would assume that since you have had to adjust the clutch that far in its probably time to get it replaced. it would be easier to get an ATV lift/jack and use that to craddle the tranny. pulling the tcase isnt necessary if you dont want but may make it lighter.
