Unhappy Confused and Upset - Dealer order bungle

Hey y'all. on 8/7, I put a deposit down on an ordered truck. I had all my specs laid out. The dealer showed me screen prints of the order off of the Ford system. The salesman and I checked off everything. All options and colors and features were accounted for. A couple of weeks ago, the salesman emails me the VIN# and says my truck should arrive at the dealer around 9/20. Great!! I began the countdown and started getting my finances in order.

I've been hitting the Ford window sticker site every day looking to see if it pops up. Today, the VIN popped up with the sticker. Yippee!!

After I looked at it more closely, the dream started to fade. . . the truck is a 250, not a 350 like I ordered. It's a different exterior color and isn't two tone like I ordered. It has all the options I wanted, but it's not the truck I ordered. I got a note into the salesman. I'm thinking of asking for my deposit back and going to another dealer. Hopefully, the salesman gave me the wrong VIN# but I doubt it. Waiting for a response. I'm so frustrated. Sorry, but I just had to share.

update: see my post below!!

Crisis averted. . . .RECALL THE BOMBERS!!!

Salesman gave me the wrong VIN#. He already has the MSO and the window sticker has my name on it. He apologized and everything is well with the world!!

Champ, the same thing happened to me albeit in a little different way. When my VIN came in, the dealer printed off his list of ordered vehicles and highlighted the wrong VIN and handed it to me. Fortunately, I checked the window sticker for the VIN on the line ABOVE the highlighted VIN and found my truck. It really sucked for a few minutes while I was figuring that one out.

I would have ordered the PTO option. Just so I can add a generator. Living here in Florida a generator is a must.

Nice truck!

Agreed, nice rig!

FWIW, you should probably ask your dealer before using the PTO to run a generator. I don't have it handy, but there is some specific wording in the warranty that talks about not covering things when the vehicle is used as a "stationary power source" (or something like that). Just a word to the wise.

Nice truck! Post the pics when you get it.
I'm think of trading in my 08 on 2011....I want the in-dash computer and cooled seats and steering wheel. You will like the heated/ cooled steering wheel.

I ordered the lower two tone paint and the Gooseneck prep. Neither were on the truck when it showed up. Dealer said Ford screwed up and offered to re-order for me. I didn't have the patience to wait another 6-7 weeks. So i took it. Put a B&W Turn over bal and I'll live with the solid Black truck.

I don't think a heated/cooled steering wheel is an option. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think Dodge is the only manufacturer making them. The heated/cooled seats are indeed awesome.

Glad to hear it was only a bad dream. My 250 has basically the same option package as your truck. Had mine since 6/25/10. Traded my 08 6.4 and never looked back. Only problem now is that I can't find a set of bars for the front. All of the suppliers say that the truck is still too new. Good luck with yours, your'e going to love it.
