teapot carb replacement

I am working on a 56 f-700 with a holley centri vac governor carb. There is no tag on it to identify it for parts and the only number to be found on it is 1ZR-5715B
I think it is a teapot carb but I am unsure. What can I replace it with?

This truck does not get alot of use but would like to update the carb a few years so parts can still be found.

Thanks for any and all help.

Sending a picture of the carb will help identify...however, its all about what you have for an intake...

I will get a couple pictures of it and post them hopefully tomorrow. Would the intake have a casting number that could be of any help to identify it? If so where would I look for the casting number?

The casting # usually are on the back of the intake, just behind where the carb sits...most of us can identify the intake by looking at the base of where the carb sits...if you have a early 4v intake (pre 57) you can use an adapter plate to mount later model carbs, if you have a later 4v intake most modern carbs, holley, autolite etc will mount with no problem follow this link...it should help you with your questions...timmy's Yblock page

Howdy,

All you have to do to post pictures is get a free Photobucket or other picture hosting account and post the link to the picture. Photobucket has complete instructions on it.

Also, you can set up your Gallery here by clicking on "User CP" (upper left) You can upload pictures there and link to them in any of your posts. Find your Gallery on the left about halfway down the page. there's instructions there to set it up.

I find it easier to use Photobucket if I want to post pictures.

I bought a new 4bbl Holley 0-8007 carb for my 292. It's got an electric choke and is 390 cfm.

Cheers,

Rick

okay so I have an album posted in my public profile with pictures of the carb in question.

All sources tell me it is the teapot style with the small 4v pattern. Can anyone direct me to which adapter I will need to update to modern 4v carb?

Also all sources tell me this is the load a matic system as well, can anyone direct me to where I may buy a regular distributor for this engine.

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Any one of your favorite part stores should be able to supply a later distributor. Use a 1964 F100 as the vehicle, and you'll probably get a Motorcraft Distributor. With the Motorcraft, you can scavenge parts from many small blocks for tuning, and even Duraspark caps and trigger components which can be used to trigger almost any aftermarket ignition box (or a Duraspark box).
If you really want to get fancy, you can get an MSD, Mallory, or Performance Distributors distributor.
Speedway Motors have a tapered port adapter that should work very well.
Which intake do you have? ECZ-9425-A is the '56 4v manifold (small pattern) and it is a decent manifold. '56 was the 2nd most powerful year for the Y. If everything else was equal, you wouldn't be too far off from the '57 specs using that manifold.

I will have to get the casting number off the intake. If its the intake mentioned what adapter will I need to put a modern four barrel on this old truck?

I can't read the block casting number at all. The intake is the ECZ-9425-A. I am now concerned about distributor interchange to be able to put a modern carb on this old girl.
The vin number is F70RGH33536
The assembly number is 20ADN306
I am not sure how to decipher these numbers, hoping someone can shed some light for me

Worse case with the distributor, you will have to swap the drive gear from your old one to the new one. If the engine is original to the truck a '57 up distributor should drop right in and work fine with the new carb.

Reading a few posts over at YBlocks Forever,Speedway Motors is supposed to have the correct adapter to run a modern carb on the 9425A manifold, but it is highly recommended to just changeit out to a 9425B.

Transdapt 2064 adapter should work, O'Reilly's Auto Parts carries them (or they can order one for you). Also the original carb was around 400cfm so a good replacement would be the Holley 450cfm 4bbl.
