making the tach work
OK i didnt have a tach in my 1993 5.0 4x4 and i wanted one i dug through my pile of old parts and found one from a diesel hooked it up and all the gagues worked except for the tack how do i make the tach work?

The tach from the diesel will not work in your gas engine equipped truck (or vice versa). The diesel tach gets it's signal from the fuel pump timing gear. The gas engine tach gets it's signal from the negative side of the coil. Two different animals.
