I need some injector help
FICM tested okas per the service lady but not documented on the invoice so no numbers
Replaced #6 & #8 injectors. both failed at -48rpm
I will try testing the FICM next week or so.... at a new dealership. turns out a buddy of mine is now on as mechanic (not diesel tech, yet) at a Ford shop. so he will help me out,
the first thing I am going to do is have the FICM tested. from there I don't know what else to do next.
--Caere let me know how Rev-x works for ya.
--w_huisman I still have warranty up to 300k KM or appx 180k miles. i bought the extended ford ESP package ... it cost 3600 but was worth every cent.
-- to all of you who have 6.0's don't run w40 oil if you get colder than 40F or 5 c...
one tech said your injectors will thank you in the winter.
thanks again guys
so you have non-stock injectors? whats the difference? where did you get them? I was running 4 w 40 syn for 2 years and then my injectors started going... 2 at a time. thats when Ford said no more w40 oil
Probably the most important things you can do to keep injectors healthy is:
1. Use Motorcraft fuel filters and drain the filter bowl every oil change and not to extend life beyond 15k miles.
2. Use diesel fuel from high volume stores to ensure fresh diesel without water.
3. Change the oil every 5k miles using a Motorcraft oil filter. I don't remember the exact flow rate but these 6.0 flow alot of oil/minute.
4. Make sure your batteries/terminals are in good shape.
I have ~140k miles and I still have the original FICM and all 8 original injectors.

Thank you its All great advice. I only wish I had your Climate, I am sure it has something to do with it. (I was considering a move to Katy). My truck sees many months below -30 to - 40 Good on ya for keeping your truck stock, a lot of people I know run hot smokey tunes, without increasing the airflow or beefing up the Transmission and wonder why (more like complain why) they have problems. I have an S&B airfilter and 5" flo pro Pipes. One of the many things I have learned was clean, unrestricted airflow is more important than running a 200 hp tune, when it comes to longevity. However it is nice to blow away those annoying "rice rockets" now and then. I wish I knew what it was inside my truck, like a blockage in the HPOP or something simple I could fix to stop having to replace injectors. I will keep up with all ford recommended products until my warranty expires then its time for some aftermarket upgrades from Bulletproof Diesel on the egr and oil cooler, possibly new injectors
