99 F150 fix or trade ?
I have a 99 F150 4.6 that I bought a year ago with 113000 miles. After owning it a few months I had to replace the radiator and completely rebuild the front end around $1700 in repairs.
Now I have a leaking head gasket, and a bad heater core!!!! Whats next?
My question is should I fix it or find something else?
I've grown to completely hate this pickup, maybe I'm wrong but I never had problems with the older 90's Ford engines. So I'm looking at a 96.
Am I crazy ? I would love to hear from you guys.
Thanks AC

I own a 99 F150 4wd 4.6 automatic and if yours follows in my trucks footsteps: sell-it, trade-it, curb your losses and move on! I have sunk 3-4k into this rust bucket to the point of no return... Just in the past 12 months, I have had new brakes, rotors, cals, drums, master cylinder, all brake lines, tranny solinoid, 3 sensors, front axle, cv boots, sway bar links, heater core, and more. There are many things that still need done like: ball joints, all U-joints, exhaust manifold, and the AC does not work. So I don't have a truck paymrnt? Phewy! Dump it and don't look back!

Dyner that truck is 14 year old and everything you have had to replace and still have to replace are all things that wear out and don't last forever. But back to original post dump it unless you love the truck if it was my truck I would fix it but I love my truck
But then again I do most of my one repairs so re doing the entire steering system up to the steering gear only cost 400 bucks in my 01 5.4 f150 . I figure 1000 bucks a year in repair is acceptable cause that's way cheaper than full coverage alone and a payment but 1000$ in repairs can be a large number to some

I just got mine a few weeks ago. Its a 98 F250 4x4. Really wanted a mid 90's but couldn't find one that I could afford. Problem with newer trucks is I can't afford them. The 90's I can do most any of the work. Have run into some issues already. So far it's a parts thing and I can still fix it myself. Just in the middle of a heater core change. A big major repair on these trucks. Still the longer I have it the more I like it. Till it gets real bad or I find the truck of my dreams I'll be fixing her up. Good luck to you with yours.

Thanks for the replies guy's. I guess i'm going to keep it, I might end up fixing a lot on a replacement pickup anyhow. Just not very impressed with these 150's . I've got a 01 SD CC 7.3 that I keep comparing this other one to. Probably not really fair to the 150 to compare it to a SD, which is a far superior machine.

Still need to add up..My Opinion., If you are doing a lot of hauling go SD, They are made for the long runs. If its a get around might consider gas. Diesel fuel is more expensive, Repair parts are more expensive, Mechanic repair cost are more expensive, even general maintenance is more expensive. I've seen gassers get excess of 300 th miles. I've seen diesels die very early with transmissions and engines. It's how they are to be used and the maintenance used to keep them up to there best. Got to figure in how it is to be used. A diesel is not intended on being a short run grocery getter. Again my opinion.
