Issues with '99 trucks?

I have seen here that the '97 trucks seems to have a higher rate of problems and issues. Is that because it was the first model year. What about the '99's? Are there common problems with that year also. I am concerned specifically with the 5.4, 4x4, auto. and supercab. Thanks.

'99s have almost a larger problem than early '97s. Problem areas are leaky head gaskets, leaking heater core hoses that fry COP's, leaking windshield and rear windows. There are more general problems with all the years like the plugs shooting out but those 4 and more I can't think of are kind of '99 5.4L specific.

Eh i have a 99' 5.4L....no problems except for jumpy gas peddle. The problems he mentioned can't be specific only to 99's becuase they also happen in other years. But i'm not sure they are even more common i think it's just that most of the people on the forum actually drive 99's more than 97's and 98's maybe. But i'm not an expert lol.
