OOPS (Highpoint) help

I was involved in an Accident. The other car was insured by Highpoint the came out and gave me an estimate as did my company my company was ready to cut a check right then and but Highpoint will only pay the body shop not me wondering why they won't cut me a check. Anybody deal with Highpoint before as the other insurance company.

Since you're going to get your truck fixed, what difference does it make who the check is made out to (you or the body shop)?

All Highpoint is trying to do is make sure your truck gets fixed.

Nothing for nothing I don't trust them to pay and if i had the check in hand i would feel better. They have already sent a certified letter tell how much they will pay cause the guy only has 5000.00 worth of coverage. I was told to take it to their repair shop (illegal in NJ) they omitted replacing the running board that was destroyed when i called them they said oh well when you take it to the repair shop they will call us and we will adjust the claim. The guy just kept cutting me off telling me there are different options for the running boards chrome ect. When i had had enough i told him to shut up so i can speak i told there are no options i want the running board that was damaged replaced with the same one and that I want an adjusted quote. he said fine and just hung up.

Based on that level of customer service, it's time to get your insurance company involved.

Call your insurance agent/company, fill them in, let them know your concerns, and let them handle it for you.

Shotgunz is absolutely correct. File the claim with your carrier. They will see to it that your vehicle is repaired properly. Your carrier will then subrogate the other drivers carrier - the lawyers will hash it out.

I don't know how the other driver only has $5k worth of liability coverage, Minimums are $100k.

I have been talking to them If i go through my company they will fix it but i have to pay my deductible up front and i don't have that right now and i don't have rental car on my policy so that would be out of pocket. if i go through theres they pay. I'm just getting a bad feeling.

It different for every state. Most require a minimum of $15 or $20K for bodily injury. The requirement for personal property (car damage) can be as low as $5K, but it's only that low in 3 or 4 states. Its $10 or $15 minimum in most.

I'm sorry, but short of involving your insurance company or a lawyer, there's not much we can do to help you.

IMHO, you should take your truck to a body/repair shop you trust; have them prepare an estimate; forward that estimate to the insurance company; keep detailed records/copies of every conversation and document; make sure you copy your insurance company too; and then don't worry about the PAY TO line on the check.

If you go to your insurance company they will (should) handle dealing with Highpoint. That's what you pay your premiums for, they represent your interest. You need to be made completely right without any out-of-pocket. Also, make sure they pay you for depreciation. Highpoint won't bring it up, but, once your car is fixed it will show up on carfax and other reports as having been involved in an accident. That will decrease its resale value. Highpoint must pay the depreciation directly to you. Your insurance guy should be counselling you on all this. Once again, you pay premiums every month, yes? Get your monies worth.

will i got a phone from them stating that they were going to be sending out a check today that was Wednesday I got a letter in the mail yesterday stating that before they can pay out they need more info. including the drivers license #, address and phone number of both the driver and owner. a written statement a copy of the police report. So I called them got voicemail and gave them a bunch of crap. They called back and said that they have possessed the check and i should be receiving it in a few days. so we shall see. I'n the mean time I got a notice in the mail the guy has signed a ticket against my for failure to signal a lane change. the front of his car hit hit my front tire I have the marks to prove it. What a nightmare. The guys at work told me that he is more then likely just trying to get out of the ticket that the he received.
