Cut them off or removed them? Looks like some kind of a compression fitting type arrangement in there....but I don't know for sure.

Yea, actually looks cut off. That fitting you see is inside of the stock tips, then a short distance later it splits into the dual tip.

So the seller says he was told that the nitrate test must be done on coolant within the system and not in the expansion tank. Is this correct and if so, where would you be able to access the coolant other than at the tank?

Thanks, Sam...that makes sense from what I saw. I can't see what holds them on, but you're right...it does appear that they are removable. Very bizarre....maybe someone had some fancy schmancy tips on there? LOL

I'd have the dealer restore the exhaust as designed. You want it to come out all the way so that it cools down enough during the regen process.

As far as testing the nitrates, there is a bulletiin that came out, don't see it in the tech folder, talks about the nitrates. Will get it later tonight and post it.

Thanks, Senix...so nothing about the actual testing procedure. I'll forward this on to the seller. Much appreciated.

it says

Check coolant nitrite strength using the 3-Way Antifreeze Test Strip kit Rotunda # 328-00001 to determine if additive is required. If the nitrite strength is between 800 ppm & 300 ppm add 32 fl. oz. (946 mL) of Supplemental Coolant Additive Motorcraft VC-8 or equivalent. If nitrite strength is below 300 ppm flush & refill engine coolant (refer to Motorcraft Premium Gold Engine Coolant Change Record) – Do not add Supplemental Coolant Additive if flush & refill is required.

Right, but the seller said he was told he has to test the coolant from somewhere other than the overflow tank. He couldn't find anywhere else to get access to the coolant. That's what I was referring to.
