computer for 351 swap

This may not be the correct forum for this topic, so I'll apologize in advance, but.... I'm looking at swaping my 300 for a 351, and since I'm gonna keep it EFI, I'm gonna need a 351 computer, correct? If that is the case, will buying a performance chip work instead of getting the right computer from a junkyard or wherever; in other words is a performance chip a whole seperate animal from the computer or is it two terms for the same thing. Pardon my ignorance, and thanks for any help.

You need a 351 or 302 computer along with the harness. If the computer isn't the one that matches up with the engine then do a dyno pull with an a/f chart would be needed along with a custom chip. No, a chip and the computer are not the same thing. A chip plugs into the access port on the computer and overrides the stock program.
