I have to do the same on my 2003 6.0 did you have to have any special tools. How long did it take you? Ford quoted me 13hrs....plus part. These on line manuel was it complete enough with pixs or just texts
Special tools....just the tool to remove the radiator fan and the oil line for oil cooler. Other than that the basic and a nice torque wrench for the intake and other parts.
I have both the Ford Paper Manual (Books) and the online and the online version is just as complete. So either would work....although I do prefer to have the books in the garage with me so I can finger through them while doing the job.
I didn't remove my fan to do my HPOP. No special tools required. ^^^^^ Just a torque wrench as previously mentioned. I'm not a mechanic, just a guy that likes to save money and learn new things... Took me a day to do mine. A full Saturday. I had previously installed a new EGR cooler and Bulletprood oil cooler and that took me two weekends.
YUP--no reason at all to remove the radiator or fan. The two "hidden" intake bolts at the extreme front of the intake inside the fan stator can be removed without removing anything else. They require a 15mm socket BTW.
