96 Windstar transmission
Hello,
I have a 96 Windstar with the 3.8 liter engine. Was there more than one transmission used in these? If so, how do I find out which one mine has. I looked at the VIN translation and it shows engine type but not transmission. Any and all help greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you very much. The first one shows two possibilities, the AX4S and the AX4N. The second only shows one, but gives a thing at the top saying it may not be right.
It looks like it is highly likely it has the AX4S just wish there was some way to know for sure without getting under it and counting bolts or looking for stamps. At one time that would not have been a problem but old age and back problems make that a severe difficulty now if not an impossibility.
