Steering Issue 2003 F250
My 2003 F250 (84,000 miles) has developed a steering issue. The truck will turn but the steering wheel is VERY sloppy - over 8 inches of play and will not return to center on its own. Checked the fluid in the power steering pump and power steering cooler - both full. No grinding noises etc. Ball joints were replaced last year.

Eight inches of play?! Get someone to move your steering wheel while you check each steering component under the truck for play, both on the ground and suspended if you can. Start at the input and output shafts of the steering gearbox. With that much play in the wheel, you should be able to see something loose under the truck.
