Okay I have had a problem w/ vibration in the front end since I got my Ex, it's in the front end for sure, and it starts at like 70 to 80 mph. Sometimes it's not there at 70 or so and then other times it starts as soon as I get to that speed. We replaced all four shocks with Rancho XL9000s. The ujoints on the front driveline went out in July and I dropped my front driveline. Had to replace the transfer case, drive line (mine was somewhere on the highway between Lubbock and Amarillo), the ujoints of course got replaced. Then I had a drip from front driver's side and got the inner and outer differential seal replaced on that side. But still this vibrating and what may turn out to be my imagination but a humming/winding sort of noise on the front passenger side. What could be causing this?
OK you may think this is crazy but I had the same problem and was sure I had a bad wheel bearing. Started at 75 then got worse and started coming early as 45 mph. There were a few on this forum who talked me in to unbolting my driveshaft and driving it with just the front wheels and I found that my driveshaft was bad. The shaft is bolted on with 12pt. 12 mm socket or wrench.
I had it rebuilt by a local machine shop for $275. labor and parts. Look my name up on the board and you can see the replys I got.
There were none in my area and then I figured I would upgrade the U joints to stronger ones, from what I was told it was a ball in the CV part of the shaft where it bolts to the transfer case.
I was sure it was a wheel bearing I had purchased one and had to return it.
