rear shackle question

I was under the truck the other day and noticed that there are 2 sets of holes in the rear shackle. Does this mean it is adjustable? If I were to put the spring in the second hole would it raise the rear? Is this even a stock part or aftermarket? the truck does sit almost level now. Thx

I decided to take my Rhino out for a spin last weekend. It weighs around 1200 pounds. It dropped the rear of the truck 4". I had about 3/4" between the axle and the rubber bump stops. Acording to my tire load decal, I have a 1747# capacity. I have also looked at a few other F150's and it seems their shackles are shorter so I am assuming that mine are aftermarket "lowering" shackles. What I am thinking is, if I were to replace them with stock pieces the truck would still sink 4" but I would have more clearance between the axle and bump stops and the truck would ride more level. It did ride OK and had plenty of power(I was kinda surprised) Does this sound right? I am thinking of adding air bags but not until I switch the shackles.

that does look like it is an aftermarket shackle, changing it should help with the ride height. also you should look at that pic again, the load (rhino) is way off center, not that you could reload it.but it is loaded behind the rear tires throwing the suspension off.

Yeah the center weight of the Rhino is just after the rear axle of the truck. That doesn't help much. I found this article on installing a lowering kit so the swap should be the opppsite. 2006 F150 - Ground Force Lowering Shackles - Leveling Kit | FordMuscle.com My next question is can air bags be installed on a truck with the lowering kit? If so then I may leave the kit on there. It does look kinda nice.

If I were you I would contact firestone or the manufacturer of the air bag kit and check compatibility with them. Worst case scenario, you put the stock hanger on the rear (to accommodate the bags) and get a leveling kit for the front.
