I wonder if youuse the thinner setting you could spray it through a spray gun?! I wonder how durable it would be too? Maybe throw a light clear on it for protection. I am really starting to think about doing this!

use a 30-40% acetone thinner solution and spray away. you will be amazed with the outcome.
this is what i have been using on trailers for years. you can not tell the difference between the $45 per gallon rustoleum and the $900 per gallon PPG paint

right out of high school I work grounds for a country club. In the winters I painted tractors, mowers, and odd course things ( tee blocks, ball washers, ect. ) and we used Rustoleum on it all. I found that thinned and sprayed made it hold up better then brushed on. We just used cheap virgin lacquer thinner.
I was told * not saying this is true! but I was told * there was a local guy around here that thinned Rustoleum with gas to spray it. Not sure I would even be willing to try that crap! LOL but the guy thought or claimed the gas helped the paint etch in the the old paint and or primer better.
not sure I would care to be spraying gas in or even outside my shop from a paint gun! LOL Out here in the sticks you hear a lot of crazy crap!
this way the paint might be cheap however I have learned that most of your money in painting a truck is all the prep work! sanding, patching, blending, sanding, primer, sanding, sanding, Oh yea and there is a lot of sanding involved! course I might be doing it all wrong what the hell do I know about body work? .... Maybe 5% of what a real body person knows I think I have about 5% LOL
This is freaking perfect brad. Super glad you brought this up. I just made a trade with a kid i know. My 2000 ranger for his 1987 s-10 +2,500. Anyways his s-10 needs painted and i just wanted to give it a quick cheap paint job.
Anyways brad or anyone else, could yall tell me the exact rustoleum paint to use? Should i use acetone or paint thinnner or what?
Going to be using a air spray gun. Any tips on painting it??

I had heard about this from an old timer as well before. Not sure I would want to spray that either...especially during winter with anykind of heater.
Me and my buddy saw this the other day and since his 78 250 is a very faded copper color we figured we'd give it a shot. We have only done the tailgate so far but we are using Rustolium proffesional enamel "saftey red" haha and it turned out really good. We liked it so much we're gonna do his whole truck in it. I might even do mine in safety blue haha... We used a compressor spray gun with about 75% paint and 25% paint thinner. Real light even coats and its just a flawless gloss finish once it dries. Rustolium also offers a clear coat and a metal-flake clear coat. So i think we'll go over it with that when we're done. This truely is a great incredibly inexpensive way to get a great looking paint job.
I don't think brad shares your optimism over this particular way of painting. I hope it turns out well for those of you who try it. I have seen several people from around my local area who have painted their trucks using this setup and it looks great. however in most instances we are just viewed as Country Bumpkins for not wanting to spend 5k or more on a paint job.
