Wink "Smart VOV" (a/c) ??

Has anyone used this smart VOV in their a/c system? I ordered one for my old '94 F150 that my Nephew still has and the a/c in that will get to 36-37 while mine in my '99F350 PSD will only get to 40.

That's an interesting mod.

Is the orifice accessible on our 7.3's?

I just replaced the AC compressor on my brothers Mustang for him and I thought the orifice was replaceable, so I bought a new one. Unfortunately on his Mustang, the orifice isn't accessible and the whole tube assembly has to be replaced.

If the tube assembly has to be replaced, there's no way to remove the orifice from the tube and replace it with that VOV.

You know, thats a good question, one I should have checked out before posting this because I just assumed that they all were accessable.
I'll ask my expert a/c guy soon and report back unless someone else knows......
I have long heard on Fords anyway that the "liquid line" should really be replaced during an a/c system servicing or parts replacement and thought the oriface tube/valve was inside this......

Yup.

Anytime the compressor is replaced, the orifice should be replaced too. The orifice is cheap too. The one I bought at Napa cost me less than two bucks. Like I said though, while on a lot of vehicles the orifice is easily replaced, on my brothers 2000 Mustang, the whole line needs to be replaced.

If I recall correctly, they only are "better" at idle or slow street driving.

There's no apparent difference at highway speeds.
