I admit, I was wrong.

When I first herd about the Triton (specificaly '05) spark plug problem, I basically washed my hands, walked away and never looked back. Then I took on a fleet of 15, 2005 Ford trucks all with the 3v Triton.

At first, I was stubborn. I would send them to the local stealership and have them serviced. After three or four rounds of $1,200 + bills for spark plug changes I thoght I should maybe try one out for myself.

$250.00 bucks later, and one miserable day. ... $250.00 for the 9mm tap, and extractor from Snap-on, and the P.O.S. Blue Point porcelan extractor sset (not worth a dang) The Blue Point tool is junk, not worth the time to read the instructions.

After fighting and cussing and just getting foul. The first ground strap came out. Then I took a minuite and used the tools, and the second and third were a breeze.

Now it takes me (and I timed it) 10 mins. to get the #4 broken plug out.

There is no moral to this, not bragging. Just saying that I drive a Hemi. And I'll be trading it in soon.

( I changed plugs according to miles, not hours. If I had payed attention, the hours on the truck with 6 broken plugs amounted to 230,000 miles.. lots of idle time and towing a heavy trailer)

Well I feel better now.

BTW, I read your other posts from four years ago. WHY would you have ever tried a Ford (based on your past posts)?

I didn't "try" a Ford. I took on a fleet of Fords. In the process of maintaining the fleet, I researched. I posted and complained, I may have (once or twice) posted while under the influence, but that shouldn't be of concern. It's of no concequence.

Sorry if I offended you, Ace... Just being polite.

The whole point of the post... I admit, I was wrong.

Thinking about it....

I wont apologize.

It's a bad design. It was a bad design 4 years ago. Why should I apologize for Ford making a poor engineering decision? That wasn't the point!

The point, 4 years ago, Ace. Was that the modular engines were known to have poor treads in the heads. 4 years ago, Ford has a class-action lawsuit on their hands, concerning spark plugs blowing out of the heads on 5.4 Triton V-8's. 4 years ago, I took on a fleet of trucks all with 5.4's!
Don't assume to know me by a few posts.
I still stand behind my previous posts (be it 4 years ago or not)
6-800 bucks for a spark plug change (minor tune up) is rediculous. When the plugs break, it'll cost a person 800-1,200.

Now, do we want to talk common sense? Or are you going to give me a bunch of Corporate BS?

Look on the first page for a topic with over 8000 replies.
The original poster there insist that the plugs on V10 blows only due the owners negligence who don't follow the wise advises how to fix poor factory design.
Me and other diesel owners in the thread are consistently assured that Ford makes perfect gasoline engines.
Who lies?

I made the mistake of saying something on the v10 beating up the PSDs thread. What was I thinking. The best solution is pull the plugs and clean or change them.

I don't understand why the OP is being flamed. He may have had some inflammatory comments four years ago but hell, are we going to hold a grudge?

The man has admitted that even with a well documented design flaw, he still thinks Ford builds the best truck. So what's the problem?

Reps to the OP.
