flywheel transfer on 351w

I am in the middle of an engine swap. I am swapping a 351w out of my 91 F250 and putting a new late 90's 351w in. I picked up the motor today and forgot to check if it had the flywheel on it before I bought. I took off the wrapping when I got home and of course it doesn't. What all am I in for with transferring my flywheel of the old block and getting it on the new one. I am very new to doing anything like this, but I assume I will have to have things rebalanced once I do this.

Also, you guys so kindly let me know that I would need a steel geared distributor for this swap. How do you tell if the distributor is steel geared. The guy I bought the motor from is also selling a distributor that was supposed to go with the block.

Thanks again for all the help

as far as flywheel goes, just unbolt the 6 bolts that hold it to the back of the crankshaft and reinstall on the new engine, torque to spec and thats it, as long as it came off a 351 and goes on a 351 then your good, the flywheel requires no balance

Your donor motor will only require a steel distributor drive gear if it has a roller cam and that happened in '94(F4TE block casting #). The steel gear is near impossible to visually discern from a cast gear so you're better off buying one and installing it on the distributor you have if you should need one, that way you won't have to mess with rewiring the truck for a remote TFI module.. which is what the later vehicles used.

Is there a way to tell on the Ford parts number for the distributor whether it is steel or cast geared? What year did they switch to the steel gear?

Thanks again for all the help. You guys are awesome!

Also, I am just curious, why does the roller cam require the distributor to have a steel gear?
