I had a similar issue last week. I put in a 6 cyl OHV back into my 52 months ago. It was sitting for a few years, but rebuilt before that. The oil pressure was 70-80 when I first started it. Then the timing was advanced slightly and the oil pressure dropped to about 10 now. Brand new oil pressure sending unit and the gauge works in the cluster.

We have different engines, but the principle is the same.

Ok here it is. I tore apart the oil gauge and found it was working good except no power. So I jumped it of the ignition and found it wasnt working due to faulty ignition switch, so I bypassed it and now I am showing a pressure of about 20 to 25 psi at warm idle. Then I took it for a mile drive from exit to the next it reached about 40 psi. But top speed was about 40 to 45 mph. I am only guessing because speedometer did not work. I am guessing that the low speed is due to a makeshift gas peddle I had to make for it. But it ran good. And I have talked to others here and they seem to think the noise is only a spark knock. So is what is a good range for the oil pressure?

You shouldn't be getting any spark knock, especially on a fresh engine (not all carboned up). Did you check the timing?

Thats were the problem started. I moved the distributor to help it start better. And that is when the noise started. I moved it back but noise still there. It is less but I can still hear it. Most people can't really hear it. But I know it's there.
