hey guys ive asked this question on the 460 board and got part of my question answered but not the other so i figured id give you guys a shot. my 79 has a 89 model efi 460 in it and was curious
1) what is so different between 88 and 89 460s that engine rebuilders use those years as a cutoff on their pricing?
2) what are the general hp/tq numbers for a stock 89 efi 460?
i cant seem to find any numbers anywhere for a stock one.
lets see if i can remember. 87 was the last year of the carb so thats not it. maybe its when they redesigned the heads. or changed the fuel injection. im not real sure. just throwing some stuff out there
This topic still belongs in the 460 forum. I am moving it back there but leaving a redirection note here. Maybe the guys here will see it and still answer.
Using stock(i thiink) cam specs (.432/.475 lift @.050-193/206 dur.)
and the stock E7TE heads airflow specs from http://www.reincarnation-automotive.com
I got 265hp @ 3500 rpm & 433 ft. lbs. @ 2500 rpm
my 1988 ford shop manual list 230hp.
So I think the desk top dyno is a little optimistic
