I have a '66 Ford F100 with the original 240-six engine and three-speed manual transmission that I will be removing/replacing. I have a 300-six engine that was removed from a 1976 Ford truck and a M5R2 five-speed manual transmission that was removed from a 1991 Ford truck. The flywheel I am using came off of a 1990 Ford. So far, eveything has mated up well with minimal problems. The question I have is, what is the difference between the Ford 4-1/2" starter motor (NAPA #RAY 449642) and the Ford 4" MOD II starter motor (NAPA #RAY 449232)? Should I use the old style, original 1966 replacement starter motor, or should I use the newer "MOD II" starter motor?
