I need help... I am trying to find the 6637 mod kit from NAPA
I ordered what I thought was right and what came on was a Pro Fab Intake kit part # 9922. Is this right? The intake is made by Spectre.
The box says HP rating 650 and cfm rating 900.
Please help me get the right stuff if this is not it
the easiest way to do this mod is to give clay a call, if you want to do it yourself get a 6637 filter, 4" tubing, clamp, filter cover. good luck and let us know
Has anyone used this Spectre kit? I am afraid I might be stuck with it as I did a special order at Napa thinking it was the 6637 kit. Do u think there will be ant performance difference? I am going to call maps in the morning and see if they will take it back... lessons learned... call clay first... lol.
I'm doing my "6637" mod a little different. I'm going to use a K&N filter instead. I have had good luck with them and I like the idea of cloth over paper material. Part # RD-1460 is very close in size(slightly smaller) $50. Part # 22-8022PK for the pre-filter $28. I think it will work good.
Sledhead I wouldn't put a K&N filter on there known for dusting motors and turbos on our trucks
But that just my .02
I disagree. I have compared filters when they are dirty, the inside is always cleaner with a K&N filter compared to paper filters. I can understand "some" having sealing problems to existing housings. As long as they are oiled well all is good. This has the same 4" ID inlet as the 6637 and will connect the same way.
I always grease the sealing lip of my filters and have had great luck with them. On bikes and quads at the sand dunes this is essential or sand will go through any filter. Just my $.02 though.
That's the K/N That replaces the stock Air Filter and it has more to do with the stock air box not sealing correctly with the that particular filter.
The K&N CAIs also allow too much dirt through. I wouldn't touch a K&N air filter for our trucks with a 10' pole. They may be okay for gassers, but more folks have have had dusted intakes than not using them on our trucks. If you want a pretty good chance at ruining your engine, put a K&N on. If not, go a different route. Here is a pic of a K&N CAI cone-style filter (NOT the drop-in) on a buddy's truck. Notice the finger swipe through the dust on the inside of the pipe:
