Since I haven't seen a Sept chat thread yet, I guess I'll kick one of with a big deal.
Just after 10 am yesterday, Sept 2, my daughter gave birth to my grandson. At 8lbs 12oz, I spose he's a keeper......
Congratulations. Is this your first? We've got seven, ages 2 thru 14, 6 girls and 1 boy. We love them all to death. Just remember... Grandchildren are God's gift to you for not killing your kids.
Make sure you give him a little pacifier with "Ford" lettering on it....if you catch anyone giving him one with a bowtie on it, slap it right out of their hands! lol
I think this Tuesday I'll be going to the big junkyard in Waco....going there to look for a driver side mirror for a 2000 Firebird, and maybe a rearview mirror from one as well (with the built-in reading lights...that's for my truck ). Also going to look for a set of 90s power mirrors too, I'm considering swapping over to those.
Now if only I could have a bunch of money drop into my lap like it did last week. lol
Congrats Rogue! Let the grandpa jokes commence! lol,j/k. I too plan to hit some junkyards tomorrow or next week. We'll see how it goes. Hopefully I can find a Ranger Lariat in there that still has a Radio bezel.
This is my 2nd grandkid. He has an older sister that will be 3 in a few months.
As for the ford vs chevy thing, well, his dad drives a BII, so there is some hope......
On another note, I should be getting around to dismantling that bronco next week, hopefully I can get the axles swapped under my truck shortly thereafter. Trans/transfer case *may* have to wait till I have the money to get the rear driveshaft lengthened. In any case, the entire 4wd system *should* be ready for action before any snow/ice hit.....
Sweet man. I still need to rebuild my front axle. I may have a line on some 208's, or 1345's, I just need to figure out which they are first. I've got the diagram, i've just been too busy to check.
*Edit, they're NP208's. Hmmmm anybody got any quick thoughts on the 208? I've heard of them having weak slip yokes and cracked housings since they're aluminum. Is this true?
The NP 208 is a good unit. From my research, they are the only unit that used in slip-yoke format in the F-series trucks from 80-96, as the BW1345 was fixed yoke only. My Bronco parts donor has a NP208, in fixed yoke form.
As for the grandson, here's a quick cell-phone pic I took a couple hours ago.
Congrats Rogue I'ma little worried though, the kid is aweful red
FordnFishin did you attach a pic of the thing you found on craigslist? Just curious if my computer is being stupid again.
Well after 8 months of working hard and 40,000+miles I finally broke my van. A couple weeks ago with a load I popped the radiator, now the radiator leaks worse and the water pump locked up and leaks out the weep hole. Left it at a friends house, I wonder if I should tell him why I parked my van at his house?
Now all my work vehicles are dead or broke. I fixed my brothers van, but if I used that for work he'd lose his lid! Guess it's time to put a hitch on the Falcon and see how well it can haul 9000 pounds.
A few days ago I decided to put some fresh gas in my front tank on my truck. Been about six years since I'd last used it. I put $10 in the front tank and $10 more in the back and once I start driving, I switch to the front tank. Runs fine, but I notice the sending unit is dead, since the gauge bottoms out.
So I assume all is well and keep on driving. Next day, it's a pain to start. Takes a ton of pumping and once it starts running, it shakes like crazy. After it warms up though, it runs perfect. On Saturday and today it was even harder to get started.
Today I get it started after several tries, and head to work. Halfway there, I run out of gas. "No big deal, I'll just switch to the back tank while I'm still rolling and not even have to stop".....no luck, I manage to get into a nearby parking lot and ended up staying there for about an hour. Turns out I was out of gas in the front tank and it sucked a ton of trash into the fuel filter and clogged it. Fortunately, O'Reillys is just a block away from where I got stopped, so it wasn't long and a new filter was in place. Turn of the key and it ran like new.
For those who are curious, the gas that came out of the old filter was a tan color. The good, clean gas from my back tank is clear as water.
