HOW TO?

I have a 5.4 that is poping for a code on the intake manifold rail and i was told i should do a carbon clean on my engine. they said i should use some sea foam, but to be awful carefull because its possible to hydralock the engine. so what is the best method to proportion the seafoam through the intake manifold?

Find an unrestricted vacuum port to the intake manidold, don't un hook the vacuum line till the engine is hot. Then get a tube with a control/shut off valve. Make sure the engine is at operating temperature. Unhook the vacuum line then hook up your 'seafoam tube' to the engine with the valve 'CLOSED'. Start the engine and slowly open the valve. It may take a bit of time for the vacuum to pull all of the cleaner into the manifold so don't rush the rate of flow.

I uses a clear hose, so I can see the flow of the cleaner going into the engine.

What was the code that was settingint ehe PCM?

the code was p2004 it is a intake manifold runner control code. i think it might be gunked up causing the valve to stick. thanks for the info though i will do it that way it sounds pretty promising. will the engine take what it needs or will i need to shut off the valve so it doesnt take to much?

you have to contol the flow with the valve or the engine will 'suck' it all in all at once. and there lies the potential for the hydro-lock.
