Printed the Ford DPFE Sensor Test instructions from the tech link at the beginning of the Ranger section. The only way I can get a probe into the back of the electric connection is to use paper clips. Here is my problem besides the fact that I'm not an electrical genius.
Turned to key to the run position (on), connected the negative probe to the negative battery post. probed the top wire (DPFE signal) the DPFE connector and got 0.00 volts. Same with the middle wire (signal return). Am I doing something wrong?
However, if I touch the paper clip/probe I get a .54 volt reading. My Ranger has the 2.5L and the DPFE housing is black plastic.
Thanks, I was having trouble getting a pin in the connector to get a good reading. Wound up reading through the many threads here about it and decided to replace the sensor. Took it for a 6 mile drive down the highway and so far the light has stayed off. Time will tell.
