When I was a kid my dad had a job selling conveyor systems. Sold all the conveyors used on Oroville Dam out in Cal. At the time it was the largest earth fill dam in the world. Anyway, they loaded trains of cars as you describe from conventional conveyors. Ran the trains up to the dam site where they had an unloader pretty much like your video. Dumped the cars into a hopper which fed another conveyor that crossed the river to where they stored the material before it was trucked into place at the dam.
Still pretty much as impressive today as it was when I was like 10 or whatever.
Ever watch the show"How It's Made"? I spent more time marveling at the manufacturing process and the machines involved than at the products themselves.

I'm the same way, spend more time watching the machines.
Morning y'all. According to my day planner, it's Friday; though thanks to my career choice it's Monday in my little world. Passing through the hamlet of Winslow, AR this morning the Ford International Weather Service (overhead display in the Pavement Princess) was showing 63F. Fall is coming boys & squrills...err girls.

I've read about that project, just from what I've read that sounds like it would have been cool to see it in person. In a former career I took some machinery into an earthen dam project north of Ft. Smith. They had a front shovel (Cat 5130) that took 8 trucks to bring it in. The counter weight was high-enough in the air it could swing over the cab of a F250...not touching it at all. I was impressed to say the least.

That was part of my problem at the dumper room. I was more interested in what the different machines & computer screen were doing...than the task at hand. Finally figured out that if I quickly did my part, I could then stand for a couple of moments and watch everything else in action. We have to "spot" the first 20 cars because their arm can't handle the stress of 18k tons. When we hand it off to them the weight is down around 16k tons; doesn't seem like that little would make that much of a difference....but they pay me to do it, so oh well.
I've been busy trying to get my camper ready for the GTG.. I still have easily 2 evenings of stuff to do, now I find I've got a red wasp nest up in the A/C somewhere..
Anyone ever taken one of these apart? Problem is though, I can't reach the A/C unit from the ladder.. guess I'll try taking the bottom off the unit from the inside and see if I can find them.. but then I'm standing right under then things.
ughhh...

You should be able to stand on the roof of your camper...unless it's a pop-up. With that said, I seem to remember four screws on the top of the a/c shell that allows it come straight up once the screws are gone. What brand is your a/c?

Dude, you remember seeing me right? It's not a pop-up, but I'm not sure I want to test it's weight bearing limit..
Not to mention the thought of being up there when they come swarming out. Guess I'll wait til just after dusk...
I'll need to check the brand.. I'm thinking its a Duo-Therm..from around 1992

I'm in the same boat as you...the last number I saw when I was on one of those liars on the floor was 290#. I'm going to stop here and say that I'm just expressing my numbers...not yours. Now, I was on top of my last November with the 9 year old (he's somewhere around 90-100#) cleaning it. If your worried about all the weight in one spot you can stay on your feet/knees and that will spread your weight out more. These things are designed to handle the weight of a tech on the roof working on them. Unless yours has termites....I think you'll be fine. Could always Google the trailer and see what pound per sq/ft it's designed for on the roof.

Yep, been there, done that. Have had to bail off of RV roof once, after that I never went up without a can of wasp spray. Dometic units will have 8 screws around lower perimeter to remove cover. If the wasps are coming out of the vents, there is something wrong, the upper unit and ductwork are separate.
Me and the wife got up on ladders this evening, managed to reach the screws on the cover.
Lifted it up and there was the nest on the underside of the cover..looked like mostly just little ones that were left.
I'm guessing theres a seal thats bad somewhere that was pulling them into the vents? I' don't have time to look for that at the moment, I'll button it up so its ready for the weekend.
I'll have an eerie feeling sleeping with that vent pointed towards me though.

Joe, unless the screws that hold the cover on the evaporator core are loose, I don't see how wasps could get into the ducts. But it can be amazing where the little buggers can get into. If you want, I can take a look at it Sat, I owe you that much.
Hey, as a side note, anyone got a hub cap for about an '82 truck layin' around. I got the side mount spare tire rack for my truck and after looking at it, decided I really need a cap on the spare. The only one I had laying around that fit came off a GMC and it looks sorta silly.
It's an outie wheel and the hub cap inner diameter is about 10 1/4".
