Hi all, from the Great Smokey Mountains! Decided to bring the 53 up here for a truck show, pulled the teardrop camper 660 miles yesterday without a problem. Now it's time for a short nap and then I'll do a little sightseeing and picture taking. I'll post some pics later. True Blue Truck's Fall Ford Truck Fest Show in the Great Smoky Mountians
Oh go ahead and rub it in that your on vacation. I haven't had one of those (at least a paid one) over 4 years. Though I have been paid my vacation time the last two times after I made the switch between employers.
Jeff, your place might not be there anymore after all that rain yesterday. Several local railroads are dealing with washouts today. Easteran Okie-land got 10" to 12" of rain yesterday.

Opps, that's what happens when one assumes .
Took the shower door (the one my son crashed through last Sunday) by a local glass company to get the frosted glass replaced. At $125 that's one expensive flush of the toilet. I asked about a plexiglass type of material...apparently we'd be limited on the types of cleaners we could use to clean it with; so glass it is. Thought about seeing if they could replace it with regular glass...but realized that wouldn't be a wise idea after I thought about the "big picture".
This morning as I'm driving driving out of a cow peeing on a flat rock of a down pour...I mean one of those ones that chokes out the frogs; I notice my wiper blades are streaking really bad....AGAIN. When I replace this set (Anco Brand) this will be the third set since January; the first set this year was "destroyed" when someone tried to lift the wipers off the glass while the wipers were still frozen to the glass . I remember the set that was on the truck when I purchased it...only said Motorcraft on the pivot part of the wiper and had a yellow "sun" shaped spot next to the name Motorcraft. I'm going to assume that yellow spot was some kind of wear indicator? Anyway...I ran that set for 18-24 months before they started to streak. I don't want to shell out the $$$ for a set from my local dealership if they're going to act like the last couple of Anco's....but are the Motorcrafts really that great? Before anyone asks...Yes, I'm a tight wad; my wallet has a bad squeak when I open it.
I would ask about this subject in the SD forum...but then some troll...err I mean someone would start a flame war over the fact that the V10 powered trucks don't have this problem or if I put some kind of snake oil in the fuel tank it would solve ALL of my problems...or . RainX is nice...but I shouldn't have to put that stuff on my windshield to make up for crummy wipers. I use it on the side windows though, great stuff; but having to re-apply it every couple of weeks/month gets old when you've got 100 other things that need to be done. The wiper blades wear it off so fast that you almost can't tell it was there after the first good rain anyway.
I've tried wiping the blades to make sure they're not dragging something which is keeping them from giving a clean wipe. No luck with that. I wonder if Simple Green is attacking the rubber? It makes short work of the bug & guts during the summer since most gas stations refuse to use real soap in their squeegees buckets.
Hey Jeff, are they going to post photos online after the truck show? Or do we need to look for a magazine somewhere? I only bring this up because of your celebrity truck.

Not sure just yet. I will definately be ordering extra copies.
On another note, after the wine tasting tour Fri. ( no I didn't join in) I got tired of sitting in traffic in Pigeon Forge. First chance I got, I hit the back roads. I didn't notice right off that about half of the tour attendees followed me. I took them on a round-a-bout tour through the backroads between PF and Maryville TN. Sometime during this escapade, one of the feature editors (yes, he was in this group too) decided to take an impromtu photo shoot out in the boonies. We all piled out of the trucks and while looking at the map and pointing different directions, he took pics. Guess I can imagine the caption for this pic, a big arrow pointing to me and saying "DON'T FOLLOW THIS GUY!!!!!" Oh well, they all took it in stride and I think I made a bunch of lifelong friends. Got to party with all of the magazine folks Sat. nite after the show. We had a BBQ and a BS session that lasted till after midnite.
Morning gents. Had an interesting night; all coal fired power plants in this region get their coal from Wyoming by way of 125-135 car 18k ton coal trains. Last night I was on a 18k ton, 127 car train for KCP&L...I've been on countless numbers of empty coal trains. But this one power plant we actually spot the train for unloading. Unlikely "old school" hopper trains, these cars are solid bottom (no dump doors on the bottom). The power plant unloads the car by way of a rotatory dumper. The video of a model train is pretty much how the entire operation works. YouTube - Rotary dumper works a unit coal train This plant also has a huge arm that can move the cars...we just have to help them with the first 20 cars. It's just impressive to watch a 40' long 286k pound car rotate like that. If you ever get a chance to tour a power plant while they're unloading...make a point to see it.

Or it could be that they're made from cheap Chinese rubber?
Could be...I'm going to talk to the local dealership and see just how proud of them they most likely are. The streaks are about to drive me the rest of the way crazy.
