That may or may not be true. I actually don't watch racing at all unless I'm wanting to take a nap and even then I still haven't seen a race, that was just the only name I could come up with that I felt certain that people would know.
It depends on how you drive those 5-10 miles as well. Do you drive like Ma and Pa Kettle or do you drive like Dale Jr.?
Towing that amount of weight does help it out quite a bit. I would honestly say that it's a little bit of both luck and the towing unless you really rag on that truck on those 5-10 miles too(which if you do, I would be worried about other things not just carbon buildup).
Probably somewhere in between Pa and Dale. My frugal German heritage won't let me "hot rod" it too much because of the drop in fuel economy.
Knowing that I have been lucky is exactly why I am ready to trade it in on a new F150. (so far the only trouble with the truck has been a leaking hydroboost. I put some stop leak in it and the leak has nearly stopped. If it can hold on until spring I can save the near $600 cost for the part)
