a friend of mine got a 78 f250 4x4 and he needs to ID some wiring. there are 2 wire connector's by the starter relay near the batt. 1 has 3 wire's (red, yellow w/black stripe, black w/yellow stripe) other has 2 wire's (green w/red stripe, white) it also has a newer alt. it's a ac delco. it has a plug with 2 wire's (red & white) and a stud on the back that goes to the batt. where do these wire's go. also the connector with the 2 wire's (green w/red stripe & white) has the white wire cut and taped off. where did this go orig. thanks for any help
what im trying to find out is where did the original wire's go (the 2 orig ford plugs 2 & 3 wire's). the set up does work and there were other wire's spliced in. but my friend took all of them out. some of them went to acc that are no longer on the truck. he's just trying to clean it up so it doesnt look like crap. the Delco is a 100 amp (i think) and it has an internal reg and it does work he drives the truck. i was thinking that maybe the white wire that was cut went to the old ext reg. i have a hayes manual but it shows no white wire at all.
Without a wiring diagram in front of me I'm trying to go by memory but I think the white wire went to the stator terminal on the alternator. That's the wire that feeds the electric choke.
Is the Delco wired as a one-wire setup?
as far as the alt hook up goes it has a plug with 2 wire's and a stud on the back that goes to the batt.but i'll try the other forum and do a search. and i'll let you know what i come up with.
