Have a 2000 F 250 with the stock headlights. Can anyone recommend
an upgrade to these factory lights? Can a later year with the clear
lenses bolt right in? Have looked into the Starlight or Silverlight??? options
a year or so ago and NAPA wanted $450 for the conversion. Need something
much more affordable if it is available
First which model do you have? XLs have sealed beam headlights and are different than the composite beams found in xlt, lariat, king ranch etc etc. I use Sylvania Silverstars ($50) in my Headlights and I think they are a good upgrade. I also upgraded my fogs to super white Xenons ($25) and added a set of hella driving lights ($75). Ive found this combination to put out a good amount of low medium and long range light.
Im not really sure what conversion you are talking about, is it an HID conversion?
I think he wants the 2002+ lights that are clear, unlike his 2000 which are most likely the fogged out style. Im not sure exactly but i know someone will be able to tell you if the newer style will bolt in

There are two adjuster screws on the top rear of the lights. One moves it up/down and the other moves left/right. You can put the style housings from 00-06, I think, without any problems. They mount the same and fit perfect. I have a set of 04s on my 00. You can also put the 07 style on but it requires removing both the headlight housings and the park lights. The 07 style will replace both. In order to use the 07s you will have to modify the metal area behind the headlight housings by cutting some out and secure the top to the radiator frame at the top. I think there is a mod area here that explains that. I also run the Ultrastar lamps and it is a world of difference.
Here is a link to one another thread with part numbers and all. I just did this last week end. Great improvement even with the bulbs they shipped with the lights. The parts are from forum sponsor. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...te-how-to.html

How do you like those lights? Seem good? I like the idea of upgrading my lights for under $60 when all the other kits I've looked at are $400 or more. I'm skeptical, but if they are worth it I'm going to try them out.
I was impressed with them and the ease of swapping them out. The clear lens is really an improvement. Best of all I can see down the road now after dark. My next project is adding the relays and heavier wires to increase the voltage to them. See this thread: Whiter Whites, Brighter Brights .: Articles
What a gold mine of information this site is. Love it.
Wow, thats great. Thanks for the link. I'll have to pick up a set of those clear lenses. Mine are horrible. 233K miles have taken their toll on them for sure. Very foggy.
So if I understand all this info correctly you can put lights in my 00 truck all the way up to an 06 model without any mods and all the wiring etc will just bolt and plug right in?
Chicksands, that link was really helpful to understanding the whole process. Thanks for posting that. On that link, the guy used an 04 style. They look good on his 00 truck and it is even the same color as mine whatever they call that gold.
Getting the whole new look on your truck for $60. That is a bargain these days not to mention that you can see better at night which is good for me as I am way out in the country and need to see deer in the road. 2 days ago, a guy got killed near a friend of mines place when he hit a buffalo standing in the middle of the highway he didn't see at night.
A great place is also certifit.com. I have one by me in San Diego and bought a brand new chrome grille for my 2002 for only $42! Fits perfect! They have headlights and taillights cheap too. Am getting the 09 taillights next for $29 each!
I just installed some 35w hid's in my stock lights as well. Huge difference. Re-aimed them and all is perfect. Completely plug n play. Go to ddmtuning.com and they're only $25 plus shipping and lifetime warranties. Run em in all my vehicles.
Just looked on certifit. Shows the 07 Harley lights for Only $67 each. Those will bolt right in? They also sell the headlight Mounting panel for $40 each.

not quite you have to trim the header panel located behind the headlight opening to get them to fit. Also you will need a pigtail to wire them as the 99-04 lights are 9007 and 05-07 are 9005 if im correct. But thats about it.
Do a search for the 2005 front end conversion theres tons of info on here
