Well, but sulphur smells like rotten eggs, it's that the smell?. If it smells like some kind of acid, check the battery for cracks. You could also take a look at the wiring. Where do you get the smell from anyway?.

The cat is the most likely culprit. I had an old S10 Blazer beater that smelled like that. The cat eventually blew apart.

Change gas stations. Gas isn't supposed to have that much sulphur in it anymore, but sometimes you get that smell even with a good cat.

Rough idle? Does it run ok otherwise, no change in power? If so, look more towards "tune up" items and the idle control valve etc.

Another vote for the catalytic converter. My friend had a bronco with a 351 that after two minutes you would get a headache (even driving with the windows down) from the smell and after we installed a new cat the smell was gone.

It's not the fuel...it's the cats.

Just go to a single high capacity Cat which will allow a little better flow & allowed for f-150's. Al Gore invented global warming, but we still have to breath the stuff!

If you had a previous history of an overly rich or worse yet lean condition the converters are most likely toasted. In most areas, CA is an exception, you can replace the factory two converter system with a more efficient single 3-way.

Or simply gut them, as long as it's a single O2 sensor.

I should have said they make it difficult to do so. Getting a CARB number for an aftermarket part is getting very tough these days. The new CA converter laws are pretty tough. It would warrant taking a look to see if that is still true if you live in that fine state!
