Hooo, you guys have hills and valleys out there, don't you? We have only sand and a few trees (getting to be fewer all the time) so we don't get any surprise flooding. When we do get a good hard rain that turns into a flood, we are surprised then, though.
Yeah, we have hills and trees but this is the Johnstown area, that's been hit with 3 major flooding events in and of itself in 100 or so years at least. Kind of a natural low spot in the mountains I guess. Floods made this town famous...lol.
I've actually never been to your area, but I've been to Morgantown (WVU took my money for my two sons) Fairmont, Altoona and Holidaysburg, so I'm guessing that it is the same type of country.......attractive and hilly...?
Oh Lordy, I guess rain is something that has to be respected there isn't it? Worst thing I get is a bit of flooding from water coming into the basement because my driveway is the same elevation as the cellar doorsill! Not a real good idea......duh....
I'm right on top of the mountain from Altoona and Hollidaysburg. I used to live there for a few years myself then came back up here to the Johnstown area. It's all pretty much the same - about all the size of the mountains though. Did some work in Morgantown and Wheeling WV with my last company, among other places.
I remember growing up, the flood of 1977 - it about filled our basement up...it was crazy. It rained so hard that night. They've done a lot of work since then between the Army Corps of Engineers and others to hopefully right the ship and never have another major flood event here.
Oh well, getting quiet again, and time to go out and check to see if I forgot to tie anything down, so see you all tomorrow! Good Night Bill, and all of FTE-Land
Whoops, slow connection going on here FTE! Let's hope that you don't wash that truck too hard, we don't want to see your basement flooded again! Lordy, all my treasures floating, gives me shudders just thinking about it............. Wait, I could go out and get more, so bring it on!
I just called one of my sons down in Williamsburg, Virginia for a weather update.........just getting some rain! Good!! That's all I want too, and hopefully and according to the latest weather maps, that and a little gusting is all that we'll get........
Let's just hope that it keeps going like a dyslexic NASCAR driver, and keeps steering right, instead of left.......
