PIE adapter
PIE adapter
We recently bought my wife an 06 Expedition and I'd like to be able to run my (or my wife's) iPod.
I'm trying to figure out if I have RSE or not, as from what I've found online, neither of these are compatible with my truck.
FRD03-AUX100
FRD03-AUX/S
According to their application guide, RSE means a DVD player? I thought it was just rear seat volume control?
The other, the FRD03-AUX/S will work as long as I don't have a factory satellite radio and no RSE. This is probably the one I'd go with.
If RSE means DVD, then I'm good to go as I don't have a DVD player, but I just want to be sure.
And while I got you guys here, how hard is it to pull the radio to install the pie adapter?

RSE stands for "Rear Seat Entertainment". It's a package consisting of its own DVD player with headphone jacks for the audio.
To pull your radio, just pick up a set of Ford radio removal tools for a couple of bucks from any auto parts store. Insert the tips into the corresponding holes in the radio faceplate until you feel a slight click, push the tools outward slightly, and pull the radio out using the tools. It takes a bit of practice to get the hang of it.

Yeah, that's not gonna happen, as the radio doesn't have those holes for a radio removal tool.
Thanks for your reply though, I guess I'm good to go as soon as I figure out how to remove the radio.

It,s very easy to pull radio. Remove the trim around the radio and instrsment cluster. I snaps in and has 2 7mm screws holding. Unhook wires from the controls andmove it out of the way. The radio is mounted wit 2 7mm screws also. Thats all there is to it.
I checked the WSM (belatedly...)and jhva's procedure follows it.
