Alright, I really want to order a WW, but I am nervous about the install! Is it fairly easy? I would consider myself mechanically inclined, but I know nothing of diesels and turbos!! So let me have it, how is it??
Not a bad job at all and there are plenty of write-ups on how to do it. Some with the turbo in the bay, others with it out. Personally, I would never consider trying to do it while it is still mounted.
It will be a little intimidating the first time, just take your time and remove one item at a time while pulling the turbo. Figure probably half a day the first time and make sure you have all the parts necessary to put it back together and have all your tools laid out ahead of time.

If you're mechanically inclined, you'll be fine. If you live in Lake Charles and like little bitty beers, wait for Rick to show up and he'll probably invite you over to his place and offer to help you with the install.
Hah! If you've never removed your turbo before, plan half a day for removal of the v-band clamp on the rear of the turbo at the baby's butt!!!
Seriously, hopefully your's will be easier to remove than mine was. I've heard that spraying it down with PB Blaster or something similar the day before will help break it loose. As for me, Chuck Norris had to get mine off!
not to bad a job.
this is my first diesl and had no ideal of how they worked.
i did alot of searches her and found some good pics.
it took the most of a day to do it and the foil deleate while i had the pipe off.
there is a tool list in a post on here you can search.
the hardest thing was to find a small 12 point socket to fit the turbo bolts.
i left the wastegate hooked up and moved the housing to the side.
fouled the exaust side with a tape wraped screwdriver and used a ratchet wrench to remove the wheel.
the worst part were the sore ribs that lasted a few days from laying over the front end.
Im gonna order the kit from RiffRaff, my AIH delete plug is already on the way from them. I am also thinking about maybe saving up a few extra bucks and go for the gusto and go with the Big Head Wastegate too!! I really dont know!
As always, gentlemen thanks for all the feedback and encouragement!! I ain't skeered! Its gonna be on, like Donkey Kong!!
